What is the Law?

Snohomish police officers are sworn sheriff's deputies, and are charged with enforcing Washington State law and Snohomish Municipal codes.

Washington State Law

State law is called the Revised Code of Washington (RCW.) Not every law of the state can be enforced by the police; in fact, most are not because they are regulatory or civil in nature. Police can enforce criminal RCW's, which are generally found in chapters:

There are other RCW's that are able to be enforced, but these are widely varied and not very common.
