Ted Kitchner was appointed to the Design Review Board in 1998, and
has provided the technical expertise in terms of construction methods
that is so often crucial to quality historical rehabilitation. A
Washington State native who enjoys hunting and fishing, he has been
employed in building construction for over thirty-five years. He has a
solid background in design from furniture design, to carpentry
detailing, to house design.
Ted has built designed and built six homes himself, and managed major
commercial projects as superintendent and foreman for all the major
construction firms in the area. Projects he has worked on include the
Broadway High School remodel, new King County Jail, the V.A. Hospital,
an 8.000 s.f. new home on Lake Washington and upwards of 300 single
family homes in his successful career. As a builder and developer
himself, Ted brings a good balance to the Design Review Board with his
understanding of construction and development from the builder’s
viewpoint.
