Removing Sidewalk Tripping Hazards

Sidewalk Trip Hazard Removal

The City Street Department has dedicated more resources lately to improving pedestrian safety. The City now has two methods for removing trip hazards: a walk behind grinding machine (which can be a little too aggressive and can sometimes cause the concrete to chip) and a new tool that is a more labor intensive but can completely remove a trip hazard in most cases.Sidewalk Tools

With both methods, we use a HEPA Filter Vacuum System that removes 95% of the dust so it is safe for the environment, employees running the equipment, and pedestrians near or around the jobsite.

You may see orange paint in locations around the City which means we have been out to assess the area and will either be back to attempt to remove the trip hazard or have added to the list for replacement by the Sidewalk Improvement project.
