The City Council recently adopted changes related to the timing of reminder notifications for past due utility bills.

Snohomish, Wash. December 19, 2018 – The City Council recently adopted changes related to the timing of reminder notifications for past due utility bills. Customers will no longer receive a reminder notice before their bill is past due, but a delinquent notice if they haven’t paid their utility bill on time. This notification change will be effective beginning with the utility bills sent out after January 31, 2019.

Currently, customers are receiving a reminder notice that a $20 late fee will be assessed if they haven’t paid their utility bills three (3) days before the date posted on their original bill. Those reminders will no longer be sent. Consecutive with the new policy, a delinquent notice will be sent to customers who haven’t paid their bill 10 days prior to the termination of service date which is also posted on the original bill.

It is important that customers note the correct mailing address for the City when sending utility payments. Any customer that uses a bank online bill pay system must update the mailing address with their own bank. All mailed payments and bank initiated online payments must be mailed to: City of Snohomish, P.O. Box 1589, Snohomish, WA 98291-1589.

Also, the City will implement a new utility billing system in March/April 2019 that will give customers improved online services for managing utility bills. Additional information related to the new billing system will be posted to the City’s website and sent to customers providing information about setting up a NEW online account. Customer that currently use the City’s online access with Paymentus to manage their City of Snohomish bill will be required to set up a new account to continue receiving certain benefits, such as recurring payments.

To have information on the new utility billing system sent to via email or text, customers can subscribe to Notify Me and choose the NEW Utility Billing System-2019 list on the City of Snohomish website. Subscribe here.
