Greetings from sunny Bethpage, Long Island, New York. Look what I purchased on e-Bay for my website--just
love it! Any way of finding out if any of these little guys are still living in Snohomish. Walter
My father-in-law is Russell Neil. His father Harold
Neil owned and operated Neil Electric the name on the soap box racer in
the picture. We are still trying to figure out where the picture was
taken. Dave
Have you tried contacting All American Soap Box Derby. They probably have records back to 1934 when the derby first started.
They can be contacted at www.aasbd.org. Great picture!
Joe
I have no idea who the guys are, but the street
scene bares a striking resemblance to the corner of Wall Street and
Colby Ave. in Everett Washington. If you were standing in the same
position as the photographer, looking the same direction and the
building across the street wasn't there, you'd see the courthouse. I say
that because there's a small sharp "point" on the roof of the building.
That point could very well be the top of the steeple of the church
across from the courthouse to the north. The photographer would be
facing southwest. There you go! Marvin
If you would like to help Walter out, send us any
information you might have on this photo taken in the Summer of 1956 and
we will pass it on to him. If you have another Snohomish history
item of interest, send it to us and we may post it on the Snohomish
web site.
