Snohomish Design Standards

The City of Snohomish has developed Design Standards and Guidelines for the City's Historic District and a separate set of Design Standards and Guidelines for Areas Outside of the Historic District.  The primary purpose of these Design Standards are to:

bulletRetain Snohomish’s historic, small town appeal.
bulletFind ways for the City to become more physically attractive.
bulletRehabilitate structures within the Historic District wherever possible.
bulletEncourage compatibility of development with both community and
neighborhood characteristics.
bulletEncourage the design and scale of new residential development which is generally in character with the existing neighborhood and City development.
bulletPreserve and enhance the historic character and heritage of Snohomish.
bulletImprove the appearance of Snohomish through good urban design and neighborhood planning.
bulletMaintain an interesting and commercially viable downtown area.
